Remove encryption using a password you know
Decryption, not password recovery
Select an encrypted PDF you are authorized to modify and enter its current password. Unlock passes that password and the decrypt option to qpdf WebAssembly, then offers the resulting PDF only after a successful exit and nonempty output.
The tool does not crack, guess, bypass or recover unknown passwords. It also does not repair unrelated PDF damage. A nonzero qpdf status can indicate a wrong password, damaged data or an unsupported file; the wrapper cannot always distinguish these causes.
Review the unencrypted copy
Removing encryption means the saved copy no longer has that password barrier. Check where you store or share it. Reopen it without a password and verify important pages rather than assuming decryption preserved every feature.
A controlled Protect-to-Unlock Node test checked reopening, extracted text and observable form values. Interactive fields, signatures and visual fidelity were not proven. Do not rely on this operation to preserve a digital signature's validity.
Runtime and local handling
qpdf runs locally with the supplied document and password. The WASM engine must first load from jsDelivr, so local document processing still has a network dependency. The wrapper removes its virtual input/output files and clears the input buffer, but does not promise complete memory erasure or offline operation.
