Frequently asked questions

Will compression reduce the quality of my PDF?+
No. PDFcraft doesn't currently recompress or downsample images — it only optimizes the file's internal structure. Text, images, and layout are visually unaffected.
How much can PDFcraft compress a PDF?+
It varies a lot by file — you'll see your exact before-and-after size after compressing. PDFs with a lot of repeated internal structure (forms, multi-page documents) tend to shrink more than image-heavy scans, since PDFcraft doesn't currently recompress embedded images. For large scanned PDFs, deleting unnecessary pages is often more effective.
Is there a file size limit?+
No artificial limit. Your device memory is the only constraint.
Are my files safe?+
Yes. Files are processed locally. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Does it work on iPhone?+
Yes. Open PDFcraft in Safari on iPhone and it works immediately.

What does the Compress PDF tool do?

The free PDF compressor optimizes the internal structure of your PDF file — consolidating and streamlining how objects are stored — without touching the visible content of your document. This tends to help most on PDFs with a lot of repeated internal structure, like multi-page documents or forms. It does not currently re-compress or downsample embedded images, so a PDF that's large mainly because of high-resolution photos or scans may only shrink a little. For those files, deleting pages you don't need (via PDFcraft's Delete Pages tool) or splitting the document usually makes a bigger difference. Text and images are never altered — the compression process runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript, and your files never get sent to any server.
