Ranges create separate files
Split All Pages makes one PDF per physical page. In range mode, 1-3, 5, 7-10 creates three PDFs: pages 1 through 3, page 5, and pages 7 through 10. Each comma-separated item is a separate output, not one combined selection. Page numbers refer to positions in the input, not printed labels.
Ranges run from lower to higher page numbers. Empty items, reversed ranges and out-of-bounds numbers are rejected. Output groups follow the entered sequence, and pages within a range retain their original order. Downloads are individual PDFs; this tool does not create a ZIP or split by target file size.
Navigation is scoped to each output
Each output has its own source-to-output page mapping. Links to retained pages are remapped; local navigation to omitted pages is removed rather than redirected to another page or another file. Named destinations and bookmarks survive only where their targets remain valid.
A bookmark whose target is omitted is removed unless surviving children need its title as a non-clickable heading. A supported local OpenAction is retained only when its target survives; supported remote actions remain remote. Ambiguous chains containing omitted local targets stop processing.
Checks before downloads
Every output is serialized, reopened and validated before any download URLs are exposed. Unsupported forms, linked annotations and malformed navigation can stop the entire batch. Splitting extracts page groups; it is not a general editor for form fields, tags or all document structures.
Synthetic Node tests checked single-page and range outputs, navigation cleanup and page geometry. Browser downloads and visual fidelity remain unverified. Inspect every output you intend to send, particularly links near a range boundary.
Memory and file handling
Splitting reads the input and builds the output groups locally. Holding several validated PDFs in memory can be demanding. There is no processing-server upload in this handler, but loading the site requires web resources; local processing does not mean offline availability.
